A woman who made history by becoming Europe's first transgender MP addressed an Irish conference on poverty and social exclusion in the LGBT community on today.

The National Lesbian & Gay Federation (NLGF) is organising the first conference in Ireland to examine the issues of poverty and social exclusion in the LGBT community. The event will explore how issues relating to poverty, economic inequality and multiple disadvantage impact upon LGBT people.

LGBT Diversity, a coalition of local and national LGBT organisations, will launch the first study into Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Parenthood, tomorrow, Tuesday, 12th February, at Dublin City Council Civic Offices, Wood Quay Venue, Dublin 8 at 2pm.
