TENI wins Parade Award at Dublin Pride

A Message from TENI Chairperson Dr Martine Cuypers:

Dear all,

I am delighted to let you know that the directors of Dublin LGBTQ Pride have awarded TENI the 2012 "Parade Award for Walking Contingent".

We were given the award for the professional and colourful impression we made with our t-shirts, banner, lollypop signs, trans flags and balloons, for the energy, enthusiasm and positivity of our contingent and, last but not least, for the fact that there were more of us every time the parade stewards looked.

On collecting the award at the Pride closing ceremony in The George last night, I thanked on behalf of TENI's staff and volunteers, who made this such a successful and memorable Pride, all the proud and courageous trans people and allies who marched with us on Saturday. Trans people came to march from all over Ireland and even from abroad. Our contingent was 50 heads strong before we had even left Parnell Square and by the the time we reached Merrion Square, at least 50 more had inserted themselves behind the TENI banner. We also made a strong impression at post-parade with our balloons and Vanessa's brilliant speech. It was an amazing experience!

Thanking you all for your hard work, not merely in the past few weeks but throughout the year,

in pride,
Martine
