Celebrating IDAHOT: Successful Cork City Launch of 'Touching the Surface'!
TENI's landmark publication 'Touching the Surface' was launched in Cork City on 19th May by the Lord Deputy Mayor, Cllr Tony Fitzgerald. The event was part of Cork City Council's Social Inclusion Week. The launch was attended by 25 people, some of whom travelled from Dublin and Limerick to attend.
"We were really pleased with the turnout for the Cork launch of 'Touching the Surface.' It was a very enjoyable event with some inspirational speakers," said Ben Power who organised the launch.
"We were so thrilled to be able to launch this publication in the People's Republic," said TENI Director Broden Giambrone. "It's important that we get this book out as far and wide as possible."
"Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make it such a special event!" said Ben Power.
'Touching the Surface' is a landmark publication celebrating trans experiences from across Ireland. The collection contains prose, poetry, artwork and photographs from more than forty contributors. The publication was launched as part of worldwide events to mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. On 17th May 'Touching the Surface' was launched in Dublin. TENI wants to thanks Ben for making the launch such a success, the Cork speakers who shared their experiences (Darrin and Claire), everyone who travelled from Dublin (Deirdre, Cat and Leslie), Martin who sold our books and the Lord Deputy Mayor for speaking so poignantly. Thanks to Leslie Sherlock for being the official photographer for the event. We'd also like to thank everyone who came out and supported us.
