Description
A Joint Working Group of LGBT organisations has acquired comprehensive three-year seed funding from Atlantic Philanthropies to implement the Building Sustainable LGBT Communities Programme. The programme seeks to deliver an ambitious and exciting set of outcomes for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and communities in Ireland. It aims to promote self esteem, confidence, visibility, health and safety through the development of strong LGBT communities locally, regionally and nationally. Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) seeks to appoint a Co-ordinator who, together with the TENI Board, will be responsible for the implementation of the transgender strand of the programme.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage TENI in line with the organisation’s ethos, values and culture, reporting to the TENI Board.
- Plan, implement, monitor and review a work programme based on the three-year Building Sustainable LGBT Communities Programme as set out in the programme investment application, and develop, manage and publicise further projects as directed by the Board.
- Build and maintain links between the transgender community, service providers, service planners, funding bodies and allies – including membership, other transgender initiatives, the Joint Working Group, LGBT, healthcare and public sector organisations, and existing and potential sponsors.
- Coordinate, support, and supervise the programme team, consisting of a development worker, an administrator and volunteers, and effectively manage financial resources.
- Build TENI’s organisational capacity, identifying and securing additional and alternative sources of funding to sustain transgender support and advocacy in the longer term.
- Act as TENI’s primary contact for stakeholders, the general public and the media.
Requirements
- Significant experience dealing with LGBT community issues and promoting equality and social inclusion. A specific affinity with transgender issues would be an advantage.
- Significant experience managing projects, staff and volunteers.
- An enterpreneurial attitude.
- The ability to think both strategically and pragmatically.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Strong presentational skills, both orally and in writing.
- The willingness to work outside normal office hours.
- The willingness to represent TENI throughout Ireland and occasionally abroad. A driving licence and own transport would be an advantage.
